Music Festivals in Thailand

Thailand has music festivals for many tastes: a five-day festival near Pattaya, a Songkran music festival in Bangkok, jazz on the beach in Hua Hin and in the town of Pai, and the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan. This guide covers each event, when and where it takes place, and how to get there and back safely.

Dates were checked in September 2026. Many music festivals announce dates and prices only a few months ahead, so confirm them on the organiser's website before you book flights or hotels.

Thailand's Music Festival Scene

December is the busiest month: in 2025, Chiang Mai, Bangkok and Hua Hin all held music festivals, and Wonderfruit returns on 3–7 December 2026. April brings Songkran, the Thai New Year. In July 2025, Pai and Koh Phangan also held music festivals.

Major International Music Festivals

Wonderfruit

Wonderfruit is a music festival held at The Fields at Siam Country Club in Chonburi province, in the Pattaya area. The 2026 edition runs for five days, from 3 to 7 December 2026.

  • Passes: Program passes are on sale on the official Wonderfruit website. The site also lists Youth, Intro and Family passes. When we checked in September 2026, the site showed no prices.
  • Where to stay: Slow Wonder cabins, boutique camping, general camping (bring your own tent), or a hotel off site.
  • Getting there: the festival shuttles were listed as "coming soon" when we checked. For a private car, see the transport section below.

S2O Songkran Music Festival

S2O is a Bangkok music festival named after Songkran, the Thai New Year in April. The 2025 edition took place at S2O Land on Ratchada Road, near MRT Thailand Cultural Centre station. The official S2O website mentions S2O 2026 but gave no dates or prices when we checked.

The Songkran public holidays in 2026 were 13–15 April. In 2026, Bangkok also ran public water-play zones with strict rules: powder, coloured sprays and high-pressure water guns were banned in the main zones, and the zones were alcohol-free. Using a high-pressure water cannon could bring up to 2 years in prison or a fine of up to 4,000 THB. Check the rules again before Songkran 2027. If you join the water play, bring a waterproof pouch for your phone.

808 Festival

The 808 Festival is an electronic music festival in Bangkok. In 2025 it ran from 5 to 7 December at BITEC. Check the organiser's announcement for the 2026 dates.

Phangan Music and Wonder Magic Lights

This festival of music and lights is held in Thong Sala on Koh Phangan. In 2025 it ran from 4 to 6 July.

Jazz Festivals

Hua Hin International Jazz Festival

The Hua Hin International Jazz Festival takes place in December. The 2025 edition was on 19–20 December on Hua Hin beach, in the Centara Grand Beach Resort area. Admission details were not confirmed, so check the announcement before you go.

Chiang Mai Street Jazz Festival

In 2025 the Chiang Mai Street Jazz Festival ran for a week, from 1 to 7 December, at the Chiang Mai Cultural Center.

Pai Jazz & Blues Festival

Pai, in Mae Hong Son province, held its Jazz & Blues Festival on 18–20 July 2025. For a private car from Chiang Mai to Pai, see the transport section below.

The Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan

The Full Moon Party takes place on Haad Rin Beach, Koh Phangan, around the full moon. Check the date for your month on the Full Moon Party information site, an independent information site.

  • Entry: the fee is 200 THB, paid in cash at the gate. No tickets are sold online. The information site warns that any website selling tickets in advance is a scam.
  • Shoes: wear closed shoes, because there can be broken glass on the sand.
  • Getting back: on party night, ferries from Koh Samui stop running at 17:00–18:00. If you come from Koh Samui, book a room on Koh Phangan for the night and travel back the next day.

Getting to the Festivals

Smile Taxi Service fares are fixed, per vehicle (not per person) and one way, with expressway tolls included. A sedan takes up to 3 passengers with 2 bags, an SUV up to 5 with 4 bags, and a van up to 7 with 5 bags. The team works 24/7, including late-night pickups after a festival.

Airport pickups include 60 minutes of free waiting, counted from the actual landing time. You pay the driver in cash (THB) at the end of the trip. If you can only pay by card, message the team for a PayPal payment link (a 5% fee is added). Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup. After that, a cancellation or change costs 25% (less than 24 h), 35% (less than 12 h) or 50% (less than 2 h) of the price, and a no-show 100%, also when you pay the driver in cash (details). Not every driver speaks English, but you can request an English-speaking driver when you book, subject to availability. See all routes on the price list.

Alcohol Rules on Festival Days

On normal days, alcohol may be sold from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 24:00, and not to anyone under 20. On five Buddhist holy days (Makha Bucha, Visakha Bucha, Asanha Bucha, Khao Phansa and Ok Phansa), no alcohol may be sold nationwide. Ordinary shops, convenience stores and restaurants must stop selling, but licensed hotels, international airport terminals, licensed entertainment venues and designated venues for major events may still sell. The next of these days in 2026 is Ok Phansa, on 26 October.

Packing and Safety Tips

  • Closed, comfortable shoes for long hours on grass or sand.
  • Earplugs to protect your hearing near the speakers.
  • A power bank and cash in small notes, so you can call your driver and pay at food stalls.
  • Sunscreen, a hat and a light rain jacket for outdoor stages.
  • Buy tickets only from the official website or the gate, never from resellers you do not know.

Emergency Numbers

Save these numbers before a big festival: Tourist Police 1155 (24 hours, several languages), ambulance 1669, police 191 and the TAT Call Centre 1672.
